Welcome to the Nordic Network in Steatotic Liver Disease Meeting
9-10 October 2025
Stockholm, Sweden
Welcome to this think-tank where invited stakeholders from a range of backgrounds will discuss how to strengthen SLD engagement, research and care in the Nordic countries.
The organizers look forward to meeting you in beautiful Stockholm in the fall of 2025. We hope to have an engaging and interactive meeting, driving real change in the SLD field in the Nordic countries. Welcome!
The intention of this initiative is to create a platform to improve several aspects of research, healthcare and public engagement of SLD in the Nordic countries.
After a successful meeting focusing on Sweden in 2024, with ambassadors from the other Nordic countries, this year we are widening the network to include more colleagues from all Nordic countries.
For those not participating in 2024, the main takeaway is that we want this to be an inclusive network where researchers and healthcare professionals can engage in aspects relevant to their background. During the 2024 meeting, we focused on two aspects. First, we formed a “study group”, led by prof Ulf Risérus, that will design a clinical trial on diet in MASLD. Sites can choose to participate. Second, we formed an “information group”, spearheaded by associate professor Emilia Hagman. This group will focus on outreach activities and have started a recurring newsletter! Let us know if you want to be part of this by emailing to “sldnetwork@ki.se“, and this will also be a mean to spread information you think is relevant to the wider SLD community in the Nordic countries.
During the 2025 meeting, we will get an insight in what’s needed to create and maintain a successful research network, hear more from the study and information groups on ongoing activities, and discuss creating a platform for biomarker studies and a prospective Nordic SLD research cohort. We hope to also engage sites to participate in clinical trials and strengthen the Nordic countries’ position here. This network may also serve as a platform to apply for funding from major grant agencies. But perhaps most importantly, we hope that we will spark an engagement in SLD research and care to better identify and treat patients in time.
Again, we look forward to seeing you in Stockholm in October. If you want to know more about the network’s activities or engage yourself deeper, let us know!
